Mark Schelbert
Managing Partner
Mr. Schelbert is a Managing Partner of Shackleton Equity Partners. Mr. Schelbert manages all key aspects of the business including capital raising as well as sourcing and executing deals across a variety of industries. His experience includes nearly fifteen years of both operating and investment banking experience. Mr. Schelbert’s recent transactions include Apex Rail Automation, Loutech aerospace, and Stewart Filmscreen Corp as well as past transactions including RTI Electronics, Excel Meridian Data, CyberGlove Systems, and Safeharbor Knowledge Solutions.
Mr. Schelbert’s combination of expertise in operations, M&A, valuation, restructurings, and capital raising has enabled his success in distressed private equity investing. His operating experience includes his position as the Chief Executive Officer of a national out-of-home media and marketing company where he was responsible for media strategy and sales operations. Mr. Schelbert also served on the Board of Directors of a television commerical production company. Prior to his operating experience, Mr. Schelbert was an Associate of Chanin Capital Partners. Mr. Schelbert assisted in 13 restructuring transactions in aggregate value of over $43 billion, and consummated three mergers and acquisitions transactions in aggregate value of over $2 billion. Mr. Schelbert specialized in the automotive, media, technology, and telecommunications industries. Past deals include: Adelphia Communications Corp., Consolidated Freight, Dictaphone, ITC^DeltaCom, Inc.; McLeodUSA, Inc.; Venture Holdings Company, LLC; Global Crossing, Ltd.; Nextel International, Inc.; RCN Corp.; and Silicon Graphics, Inc..
Mr. Schelbert graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Prior to attending business school, Mr. Schelbert received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in economics from the University California of Santa Barbara, where he also founded and organized the pilot program for the development of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Management (CEEM).
Mr. Schelbert is a member of the Santa Monica Bay Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). Mr. Schelbert previously served as a Director of the Southern California Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA). Mr. Schelbert is also on the advisory board of Floating Doctors, an international healthcare relief organization.
